3/18/2017:As reported, Spanish dockworkers announced plans for work stoppages in March due to the government’s plans for certain labor reforms (please refer to the articles on our website about this issue). Although the planned strikes were today cancelled by the Spanish dockworkers union carriers implemented port congestion surcharges for shipments from Spain today.To fulfill FMC filing requirements we have therefore filed a Port Congestion Surcharge (R 50/00/00) in our tariff today as follows:From: All Ports in SpainTo: All US PortsUSD 215.00 per 20′ containerUSD 430.00 per 40′ and 40HC containerUSD 430.00 per 45′ containerUSD 9 w/mThis surcharge applies to all rates for dry, reefer, flat rack and open top containers filed in our tariff or agreed to in Negotiated Rate Agreements.This surcharge might not go into effect as filed if the port labor situation in Spain remains calm.
