Railroad Strike in Canada Averted

The Teamsters Canada Rail Conference-Train & Engine (TCRC) and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) ended their strike against Canadian Pacific Railroad (CP) after a tentative four-year agreement was reached between the parties.CP expect to be back to full operations by today, 6:00 am.
May 29, 2018The Teamsters Canada Rail Conference-Train & Engine (TCRC) and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) served Canadian Pacific Railroad with strike notices after union members rejected the railroad’s contract offers on Friday, setting the stage for a potential strike starting at 10 pm Tuesday night.CP advised that it has put its work stoppage contingency plan in action.About 360 signals and communications employees, members of the IBEW, voted 97.2 percent to reject CP’s final offer on Friday, while about 3,000 conductors and locomotive engineers, members of the TCRC, voted 98.1 percent to reject CP’s final offer Friday, according to Teamsters Canada.It is not clear yet what impact this will have on intermodal cargo through Canada into the US.We will monitor the situation and advise updates when available.
