Bangladesh – Measures Taken In Response To COVID-19
Posted on Mar 24
Our partners in Bangladesh advise that the Government there has imposed several measures to avert the further spread of the Coronavirus in the country.
All government and private offices in Bangladesh will have to close between march 26 and April 4, only law enforcement agencies and hospitals will remain operational. Banking services will be limited but not fully closed.
The army will deploy across the country as of today to work with district administrations on enforcement of these measures.
Customs might shut down as of March 26, but no official confirmation on this has been issued yet.
Ocean export operations still run normally except for certain carriers, while ocean import operations are severally impacted by tight space and a 16 day quarantine imposed on incoming vessels.
Airfreight operations are severally restricted both in and out of the country as only a limited amount of carriers operates normally at this point, cargo space is very tight.
We will monitor this situation closely and will provide updates here and on our website www.valexander.com as soon as they become available.
