BNSF Railway and Union Pacific Railroad advise that significant delays for freight moving through Northern California, Nevada, and the Pacific Northwest after need to be expected after severe weather knocked out rail lines there, but conditions are fortunately improving.Delays can range from a few hours to three days after heavy rain and rock slides, ice storms, avalanches, heavy snows, and floods stopped service on both UP and BNSF rail lines. Some lines were already restored while others are still awaiting repair. While BNSF reported that service has been restored on its network, UP track that both railroads use is still out-of-service, forcing the railways to detour cargo.According to a UP announcement, operations between Sacramento and Stockton, CA; Oroville and Portola, CA; Wells, Nevada and Ogden, UT; as well as Roseville and Marysville, CA were affected, with the Wells-Ogden, Stockton-Sacramento, and Roseville-Marysville connections back online.Lines between Portola, CA, to Winnemucca, NV, are expected to reopen mid-week.No date has been set for the Oroville to Portola, CA.Delays and backlog situations have to be expected. We will notify our customers if their cargo is being delayed due to these circumstances.
